Join us for a special afternoon at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art where we'll celebrate the rich heritage and evocative stories of Southern American Art. This intimate, members-only event combines fine cocktails with an exclusive, close-up exploration of iconic Southern works, guided by one of the museum's esteemed curators.
Leading the evening is Kristin Pedrozo, the museum's Art Bridges Curatorial Fellow and ASU-LACMA fellow. Born in the Philippines and raised in Memphis, Kristin brings a unique perspective to the art of the American South. With her expertise and passion, she will guide you through an in-depth look at the highlights of the Southern art on display, including:
- "Summer Afternoon" by Kate Freeman Clark — a serene portrayal of Southern landscapes.
- "Where the Southern Cross the Yellow Dog" by Carroll Cloar — a timeless exploration of Southern folklore and memory.
- "Compress Worker" by Leon Koury — a powerful depiction of Southern industry and resilience.
Immerse yourself in the spirit of the South as we explore how these works reflect the region's landscapes, traditions, and people. Enjoy a curated cocktail, connect with fellow art lovers, and gain new insights into the cultural legacy of the American South.
