Family Day:The Soul of a City: Memphis Collects African American Art
We had an incredibly fun family day on Saturday, June 23 to celebrate The Soul of a City: Memphis Collects African American Art. Kids of all ages enjoyed several creative art-making activities, including a community weaving inspired by Sonya Clark’s Woven Combs. Artist Anthony Lee did a demonstration of his collage/painting techniques, and he even had a young visitor as for his autograph! Hattiloo Children’s Theatre showcased an updated, contemporary performance of Little Red Riding Hood. Stax Music Academy’s Jazz Ensemble performed some Stax favorites, adding the soul to our Art and Soul Family Day. It was another fun, interactive day at the Brooks!
