Pokémon sighted at Brooks Museum

This is a special message is for Pokémon GO players and parents of younger players! There have been sightings of Charmanders, Spearows, Venonats, and Eevees inside Memphis Brooks Museum of Art and around the outdoor sculptures.

The new, free Pokemon GO app was released a few days ago and the museum, as well as Overton Park, is featured in the game. The Brooks and several outdoor sculpures are PokéStops.

According to the official Pokémon GO website, PokéStops are “located at interesting places, such as public art installations, historical markers, and monuments.” Players can “collect more Poké Balls and other items at PokéStops, which show up on your map as blue squares.” Learn more about the game here.

General admission to Brooks Museum is free on Wednesdays, so it will cost you nothing to visit and add to your Pokédex. Be sure to enjoy our latest exhibitions when you visit. The Brooks Museum also has free wifi.

As always be careful and be aware of your surroundings as you search so you don’t inadvertently back into an artwork or a fellow museum visitor.

Pokémon GO is a free app downloadable for your Apple or Android device.  Please tag images of your Pokémon sighting at the Brooks with #BrooksMuseum100 on social media!
