Art Builds Creativity (ABC)
Art Builds Creativity (ABC) is a multi-visit, museum-school collaboration for fourth-grade students, designed to increase students' critical thinking and communication, in alignment with fourth grade learning standards.
Students engage in two free museum visits. With time in the gallery spent discussing art and making connections to other academic subjects like reading, writing, and math. Following time in the gallery, students will participate in a hands-on artmaking lesson related to works in the museum. The Brooks Museum will cover the full cost of transportation for the second visit to the museum. Pre- and Post-Visit lesson plans will be provided to teachers to connect to in-classroom learning. This year students will be able to experience the Brooks Museum's upcoming exhibition Black American Portraits.
